PARENTING TIPS
Parenting can be quite challenging and beautiful at the same time. There is the joy derived from the love of children and there is also a sense of responsibility from knowing that it’s your job to raise them right. This however does not have to become a source of concern as information can help ease the task. We are going to be taking a look at some parenting tips that can help.
If parents create an environment in which their children fear them, the result may be children that only feel judged, mistreated, angry or guilty. Children are more likely to want separation from those who make them feel fearful. This can also lead to rebellion. There is also a risk of damage to the parent-child relationship. The effect is so damaging and far reaching that it can negatively impact the child’s mental health.
‘ Fear based parenting is the surest way to create intimidated children’- Tim kimmel. Parents must learn to inspire respect rather than fear from their children. It is better for your children to come to you by a feeling of respect and gentleness.
‘Too much love never spoils children. Children become spoiled when we substitute presents for presence’- Anthony Withman. It’s a fact that some children are spoilt. People tend to believe that this is usually as a result of too much love in terms of time, attention, hugs or gentle words spoken.
However, it has been discovered that at the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child’s success is the positive involvement of the parents. You are the number one role-model of your children, their first teacher and mentor. Your words and actions hold sway over how they turn out. To be in your child’s memories and influence their behavior tomorrow, you have to actively be in their lives today. Do not substitute presents for presence. It’s important you realize that behind every young child who believes in himself is a parent who believed first. You faith in them, your teachings, your example, your words all have a role in how they turn out.
Take note of these:
A child who is respected will become respectful. A child who is loved will become loving. A child who is treated with fairness will become just. A child who is listened to will become a great listener. A child who is given choices will become responsible. A child who is treated with kindness will become a great friend. A child who is nourished in all these will become a great leader.
